Torrent Pharma, the flagship company of the Rs 18,300 crore Torrent Group announced the acquisition of two leading women’s healthcare brands from global pharma giant NovartisBSE 1.90 % AG on Monday in a bid to sharpen its focus in the niche therapy segment.
ET NOW was the first to report the plans of Novartis to divest its non-core portfolios in India, including the women’s healthcare segment on September 6th,2016.
Regestrone and Pregachieve are the two brands acquired by the Ahmedabad-based pharma player and the company believes the deal will strengthen the hormone segment of gynaecology therapy. Both the brands are widely prescribed by gynaecologists amidst increasing lifestyle changes to treat abnormal uterine bleeding, menopausal symptoms, and infertility, the company added without divulging the deal value.
