Reliance IndustriesBSE 1.53 % has tied up with VF Corporation, one of the world’s largest denim makers, to manufacture moisture control products for the latter’s Wrangler brand to be sold in the Asian market beginning spring-summer 2018.
Billionaire Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries has launched an umbrella brand `R|Elan’ to venture into co-branded apparels, and the tie-up is part of this strategy.
“Using our ongoing research and development and extensive expertise in fibre reengineering, we have created a portfolio of speciality fabrics named R|Elan that enhances the performance attributes in all apparel segments such as activewear, denim, formal wear, casual and ethnic wear,“ Reliance Industries said in response to ET’s query on the development.
While the company declined to reveal the commercial details, executives working on the project said the target is to sell 2.5 lakh pairs of trousers made from the product in the first season in Asian markets such as India, China, Japan and Thailand.
