Jet AirwaysNSE 0.62 % founder and principal promoters Naresh Goyal, and his wife Anita Goyal will today step down from the board and leave the airline they founded nearly 25 years ago, ET Now learns exclusively from sources. The formal announcement on the Goyals exit is expected later today.
Naresh Goyal is in London, and may address all 23,000 employees of Jet from there.
The current CEO Vinay Dube is expected to stay on and steer Jet out of the current crisis.
Jet’s lenders consortium may invoke the entire 51% stake of Naresh Goyal in the airline, and start looking for a new buyer in the weeks to come.
ET Now learns former SBINSE -1.61 % managing director & an ex-Jet Airways board member Srinivasan Vishvanathan maybe invited to join the airline’s top leadership. Vishvanathan was on the Jet Board as an Independent Director till August 2018 for nearly three years.
It is learnt the lenders are considering to also invite former SBI Chairman & ex CVC Commissioner Janki Ballabh to the Jet Airways Board.
The second equity partner in Jet, Etihad, may stay on board for now. But ET Now learns Etihad’s 24% stake is likely to be diluted in the near future. Following that, one of the two Etihad nominees will then resign from the Jet Board.
