WPP merges R+K with Enterprise IG

Enterprise IG, the WPP group’s design consultancy firm, has merged the Bangalore-based Ray+ Keshavan with Itself.

WPP had acquired the Bangalore-based Ray+Keshavan last month. The new entity is yet to be named.

WPP’s other big design firms, Fitch and Landor, are already working with Indian clients and Fitch’s office is expected to open in Mumbai next month.

Sujata Keshavan, managing director and executive creative director, R + K told Business Standard, “With Enterprise IG we have access to lot of expertise and global resources.”

She further added that the new entity would serve global clients which have an interest in India. Ranjan Kapur, country head, WPP said, “The Indian design industry is growing and R+K acquisition gave us a foot print in the market.”

Kapur explained the rationale behind the merger saying that it was important to give the acquired entity adequate support and access to the group’s expertise.

With Enterprise IG entry (not advertising agency Enterprise-Bates, which is also part of the WPP group) signals the designs that the group has on the potential for the branding and design consultancy services in India.

Till about a year back, the design space in the country was dominated largely by Indian design houses. With WPP’s design trio entering the fray the action in the design space is expected to go up further. Enterprise IG has a presence in 21 countries, with India being the latest addition. HSBC, Vodafone, Castrol, Deloitte, Ericsson, Microsoft Xbox, Red Bull are some of the clients handled by the consultancy.

WPP group took a majority stake in R+K last month. Started by Sujata Keshavan and Ram Ray in 1989, the firm provides design services in packaging, print, brand identity, interactive design and environmentals graphics.

Worked with the some of the companies like Airtel, Titan Industries ltd, the firm is upbeat about its new role with Enterprise IG.
