L&T Info to buy US-based GDA
Larsen & Toubro Infotech Ltd, a subsidiary of L&T, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire GDA Technologies, including all its design centres in the US and India.
GDA, a privately held electronic design firm based in California, has over 350 employees in the US and India, with over 100 customers spread across the US, Japan and India. The company has expertise in various semiconductor developments from front-end to physical design for the designing of deep sub-micron process technologies. Its portfolio of embedded hardware and software development capabilities provide a complete solution in this space.
Mr A.M. Naik, Chairman and Managing Director of L&T, said that GDA’s electronic design capabilities constituted a key building block in the company’s roadmap towards creating end-to-end solution delivery capability for its global customer base. "Such acquisitions are an integral part of our strategic plan to strengthen our presence in the IT consulting and services space," he said,
The acquisition is expected to help the company deliver a broad set of chip design and product realisation services. All the three GDA founders will join the L&T Infotech management team.
