The Spanish government will analyze thoroughly whether to authorise the 5.06 billion euro ($6.12 billion) bid made by Australian-run fund IFM for a minority stake in Naturgy, Economy Minister Nadia Calvino said on Thursday.
“We have to analyse in-depth and much detail this operation because it involves an operator in a strategic sector – energy – and critical infrastructure,” she told an economic event.
In a bid to protect companies deemed “strategic”, Madrid has passed a bill giving the government the power to block acquisitions by foreign companies.
