Ninjacart acquires SaaS platform Tecxprt to streamline supply chain

Industry:    2022-03-11

Fresh produce supply chain startup Ninjacart has acquired Tecxprt, a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)-based communication platform.

The entire team of Tecxprt will join Ninjacart as part of the deal.

The company did not disclose the transaction size.

Flipkart-and-Walmart-backed Ninjacart said that the acquisition would help the company digitise its operations and facilitate real-time communication across the food supply chain.

“We are thrilled to have the Tecxprt team on board. With this acquisition, we will further strengthen our position as a one-stop solution for agri-players, retailers and small businesses supplying agri commodities across the country,” said Thirukumaran Nagarajan, co-founder and CEO of Ninjacart.

The company said on March 4 that it had set aside $25 million to invest in agritech startups.

This followed a $145 million investment from Flipkart and its parent company Walmart in December.

ET was the first to report about the deal on December 13.

Founded in 2015, Ninjacart operates in seven cities including Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Delhi and Mumbai. It procures fresh fruits and vegetables directly from farmers and supplies them to retailers, hotels, restaurants and even apartment complexes.

“Our combined workforce and tech capabilities will be a formidable force towards achieving our joint ambitions of accelerating the growth and streamlining of India’s agri-ecosystem,” said Naveen Murugan, founder and managing director, Tecxprt.
