Amit Dixit, Senior MD of Blackstone’s private equity and also its co-head in India got a trans-Atlantic call during the X-Mas holidays last December. There were just two simple queries from the other end: Would Blackstone be open to write a billion dollar plus cheque to buy HP Enterprises’ (HPE) independent IT services arm in India? And second: would he be able to complete all diligence, stitch together a master services agreement and even launch an open offer in just 10 weeks?
