Bengaluru based Junior Sports and Services, which works under the brand name ‘SportzVillage’, has raised about R65 Cr from mid stage PE firm Gaja Capital. The proceeds from the latest round will be used to expand its operations. Founded in 2003, SportzVillage has a presence in 5 cities across India and is engaged in providing sports management services. It offers sports marketing and events, school sports, sports infrastructure services, new media in sports and sports ticketing. It operates three businesses – SportzConsult, a sports management company, catering largely to corporate institutions, and EduSports, which works with schools to provide physical education and sports programmes and MeraSport, a technology initiative to improve sports user experience by leveraging new media technologies of mobile, web and IPTV. In 2010, the company had raised about $2 million from Bharati Jacob and Seedfund.
