GlobalConnect to acquire Sirius facility

GlobalConnect Australia, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Avaya GlobalConnect, today announced that it would acquire the Converged Solutions Division (SCS) of Sirius Telecommunications Ltd for AUD$ 1.2 million.

GlobalConnect, a leading convergence and contact centre solutions provider in Australia, has executed an agreement to acquire the Converged Solutions Division of Sirius Telecommunications, one of only four Tier-I Avaya partners in Australia, delivering enterprise level communications systems to corporate and government clients. The transaction is expected to be completed in the next 60 days.

GlobalConnect has been strengthening its presence in the Australian market especially in NSW and Victoria. By acquiring the Converged Solutions Division of Sirius Telecommunications, GlobalConnect will augment and build up its geographical coverage in the country and will be in a position to support customers nationally.

Niru Mehta, Managing Director and Vice Chairman of Avaya GlobalConnect said, "Australia remains an important market for growth for Avaya GlobalConnect Ltd. With the investment we are making, we plan to grow and strengthen our capabilities in the Australian market. This will help us serve our customer needs nationally in Australia."

The Converged Solutions Division delivers customer solutions in IP telephony, contact centers, mobility and unified messaging. In addition to these core technology areas, the division also delivers interactive voice response (IVR) and call recording solutions.

Roger Mason, Chairman of Sirius Telecommunications said, "The sale of SCS to GlobalConnect is an achievement for the company as it gets absorbed by Avaya’s largest partner and reseller in Asia Pacific. The increasing adoption of VoIP technology by Australian businesses, and growing operations of SCS, the division required substantial capital investment and financial backing of a large company such as GlobalConnect."
