Eyewear company Lenskart has purchased the Delhi franchise for Season 2 of the Global e-Cricket Premier League (GEPL) from JetSynthesys, a company in digital entertainment and technology.

GEPL, the world’s largest e-cricket and entertainment league, is played on JetSynthesys’ flagship mobile gaming app, Real Cricket, which has amassed over 300 million lifetime downloads.

The league has experienced a fivefold surge in player interest—910,000 compared to Season 1—highlighting its immense growth potential among digital screen users.

The inaugural season attracted over 200,000 registrations, culminating in the selection of 48 elite players across eight teams. With a staggering multiplatform reach of over 70 million and more than 2.4 million minutes of streamed content on JioCinema and Sports18, GEPL has quickly established itself as a trailblazer in cricket esports.

Previously, JetSynthesys secured franchise owners for the Bengaluru and Chennai franchises.

The company has brought on board Nikhil Kamath, co-founder of Zerodha; Ankit Nagori, founder of Curefoods; and Prashanth Prakash, partner at Accel, as owners of GEPL’s Bengaluru franchise.

Gopal Srinivasan, chairman of TVS Capital Funds; Madhusudanan R, co-founder of M2P Fintech; and Arjun Santhanakrishnan, Group CEO of GS Global, are the team owners for the Chennai franchise.

Rajan Navani, CEO and Founder of JetSynthesys, said, “We are thrilled to have Lenskart join us as the franchise owner of Delhi. Peyush Bansal’s visionary leadership, combined with the immense popularity of cricket in India, aligns perfectly with our mission to bring esports to the masses, just like the IPL did for traditional cricket. This collaboration will further our goal of building a truly global platform, enabling GEPL to connect with fans from all walks of life and create new grassroots opportunities for aspiring players.”

Commenting on his association with GEPL, Peyush Bansal, co-founder, Lenskart, said, “Our goal is simple: to ensure that gamers can enjoy their passion without compromising their eye health. The digital gaming community is growing rapidly, and so is the need for high-performance eyewear that helps them hustle through extended gameplay sessions. We want gamers to play at their best, and we are committed to building eyewear that enables that.”

Rohit Potphode, CEO & League Commissioner of GEPL, added, “Having Lenskart join the league as a franchise owner is a landmark moment for GEPL. Peyush Bansal’s passion for technology and innovation will undoubtedly infuse fresh energy into the ecosystem. With Season 2 poised to be bigger and better, we are confident his involvement will help raise the bar for cricket esports.”

Through their foray into esports, Lenskart aims to engage more closely with gamers, ensuring they stay focused and comfortable during long gaming sessions.

Building on its successful debut, Season 2 of GEPL will feature an expanded team format, advanced league dynamics, and heightened competitive intensity. Players and fans can look forward to cutting-edge gameplay in Real Cricket 24, known for its strategic depth and realism.

The season will culminate in a high-octane finale in March 2025, where top teams will battle for the title of e-Cricket Icon on the global stage.
