Swedish data analytics company Qlik said it has acquired AI-driven data management provider Mozaic Data for an undisclosed sum.
Sharad Kumar, founder of Mozaic Data, will join Qlik as regional head of data integration and quality.
“The acquisition of Mozaic and Sharad’s expertise is a pivotal step in reshaping the data landscape, and is a significant contribution to our ongoing work for 2024,” said Drew Clarke, general manager, data business unit, at Qlik. “Customers recognise the importance of treating data as a product—a strategy that aligns with the need for a SaaS-based data product catalogue.”
Qlik said the acquisition is aimed at accelerating data deployment and utilisation across enterprises, especially in cloud platforms like Amazon Redshift, Databricks, Google BigQuery, Microsoft Fabric and Snowflake.
Mozaic’s data products are designed on decentralised architecture that can be discovered through a data product marketplace for unique business use cases.
According to a Harvard Business Review report, treating data as a product can speed up the implementation of new use cases by 90% and reduce total cost of ownership by 30%.
“This is an opportunity to advance the efficiency and innovation in data management driven by AI, integrating seamlessly with Qlik’s upcoming projects,” said Kumar of Mozaic.
Founded in 1993, Qlik currently has over 40,000 enterprise customers in more than 100 countries.
