Industry:    2023-06-20

US-based business process transformation company Sutherland Global Services is in discussions to acquire cloud-based platform and enterprise IT automation solutions provider Sunera Technologies (Suneratech), people familiar with the development said, as the buyout firm seeks to widen its portfolio. A deal is expected to value Hyderabad and the US-headquartered Suneratech at $200 million, the sources said.

Earlier, Asia-focused PE fund BPEA EQT had tried to acquire Suneratech. Suneratech helps enterprises enable digital transformation with a team of experts who specialise in cloud, analytics, the internet of things, automation, data science, artificial intelligence/machine learning, and business intelligence, according to the company website. Being the technology partner for AWS, Microsoft, SAP, Automation Anywhere, Azure, and Oracle, Suneratech serves more than 300 customers across the US, Europe and Asia. Adidas, Facebook, Godrej, Reebok, HUL, Oracle, P&G, Schneider, USHA, Xerox and WNS are among its big clients.

Suneratech, set up in 2005 by Sudheer Mareddi and Ravi Reddy, has 2,200 employees across its offices in Hyderabad, Ontario, Singapore, the UAE and the US.

Queries sent to Sutherland and Suneratech remained unanswered as of press time on Monday.

Last year, Sutherland had acquired AI-based customer experience platform company Augment CXM to extend its AI solutions portfolio. In India, Sutherland had acquired Apollo Health Street, a healthcare-focused BPO set up by the founders of Apollo Hospitals, for ₹1,000 crore in 2012.
