“The proposed Noida plant would have a capacity to manufacture a million handsets every month over its six assembly lines,” Ziox Mobiles national sales head Chiranjib Sarkar, National Sales Head-Ziox Mobiles told Business Standard here on Thursday.
“We are currently scouting for suitable land for the project and negations are on with landowners and even the state government authorities,” he informed, adding the proposal would take a concrete shape before January 2018.
Ziox already has an existing plant in Delhi, which has the capacity to produce half million handsets per month. The Delhi plant has four operational assembly lines.
“The existing plant is already running on full capacity and with the kind of growth we are clocking, very soon we would be needing another plant to cater the rising demand for our products,” he added. The company hawks its products both through the conventional retail and e-commerce.
Ziox primarily assembles feature and smartphone handsets in Delhi plant. The Noida plant would also be an assembly unit. “We are also keen on setting up a full-fledged mobile handset plant if the central government provides matching incentives under the Make in India scheme,” Sarkar underscored.
Ziox Mobiles is the IT arm of Sun Airvoice Private Limited, which has business interests in real estate, hospitality, and other verticals. Going forward, the company mulls expanding into other consumer electronics segments also, such as accessories, television etc. Besides, the Group has plans to foray into other product categories also, including consumer durables.
